Jean Tubridy of the Social Bridge blog does these Smilebox thingies brilliantly. This is my first go. For photography technicians all pics are with my trusty Kodak C195 point-and-click π Hope you enjoy.

Great pix, Roy! Loved the cow-like horse with the leg warmers and the dashing coat. Happy Christmas to you! π

Thank you Britt and Happy Christmas to you both. I waited an age for that horse to face the camera but no luck. Should have brought carrots.

Strangely, in my run-down southern California suburb I grew up in, there was a farm with horses across the street. Apples were always a crowd pleaser. π

Happy Christmas, Roy! This was a great surprise. Lovely to see Jersey in all her glory.

Happy Christmas Jean! Yes it was a peaceful hour or two out there today while most people were indoors pigging away. I wish it could be Christmas every day π

What a lovely journey you took us on today for Christmas! And you were able to capture that beautiful rainbow as well, wow. Happy Christmas!

It was great to be out in the fresh air. Yes that rainbow was something – rare that you can see both ends.

Well, I’m happy you decided to get out and take these lovely photos rather than stay inside “pigging away.” π Merry Christmas, Roy!

Hi Jill! Being family-less these days I’m in a great position to please myself, and a nice couple of hours in the outdoors suits me well. Happy Christmas!

I’m impressed by the ‘easy’ 8-miler Roy – great pictures, wonderful rainbow π

You wouldn’t be impressed by my snail’s pace Andrea π Still it allows plenty of time for observation, pics etc.

Loved looking at the photos, St Ouen was always one of my favourite places.

Fortunately in a world of change St Ouen survives more or less untouched. Apart from most of the bars having now shut π¦

That set of photos was certainly fun to see. I love the great cart-horse in particular. Jersey looks such a beautiful island with so much open space.

Oh that offhand beast! And Britt thinks I’m going to drag apples with me on my next run. Let him eat grass π

Beautiful pictures! My guy and I watched them together and oohed and ahed. What lovely country you live in/on. May the new year bring you peace, harmony, and more time to walk around and take pictures!

Thanks a million Pam. Yet we have hard core of ‘Jersey wreckers’ determined to criticise every aspect of the Island. Like everywhere is better. It’s up to the rest of us to keep extolling its virtues. (Oh, we live IN Jersey – incomers and outsiders declare that we live ON Jersey) π

Roy love the local captures, beautiful part of the world. Thanks for sharing your corner with us. That was fun to see and as i sit here in a sweltering heat, your images look so vibrant and green.

Thanks Kath. St Ouen is absolutely timeless. It was damp, quiet and still and a total contrast (I imagine) to your part of the world. I love jogging or walking around rural Jersey – you could be in any century and nothing much would have changed.

Thanks Naomi. I might now be inspired to do a series of 12 monthly Smileboxes, one for each Jersey parish π
