It’s been many a long year since I’ve owned a camera. My last Jersey Joggers Couch to 5k group were kind enough to present me with an Amazon voucher with which I’ve invested in a Canon Powershot A3500IS.
The Web is enriched by the virtually unlimited array of images taken by skilled individuals. Here we are back to the days of the holiday ‘snap’ with a few of my home island. Click to enlarge image.

I like random pictures Roy. They are more honest and show places that have meaning to the photographer. Far better than any tourist brochure. Have a Happy Christmas – ‘see’ you in the New Year. 🙂

Thank you Jenny. Some people just have a gift with a camera, an eye for a shot. Many of these I follow and enjoy their work. The best I can do I think is stick to local shots without any pretensions. Enjoy your long break!

Thank you, Roy. This is fabulous for people like me who have yet to make it to Jersey. What a beautiful place. But where’s your snow?!!!! 🙂

Hi Jane – yes it is beautiful with surprises to be found around every corner. I feel sorry for those that choose not to see them. As for snow we had our share last March thank you (though the long-term forecast is for a harsh winter).

Roy, I’m thrilled you’ve invested in a camera and just looking at these pics makes me yearn to go back to Jersey. I’ve just been putting a sprig of holly on a lovely photo we have in our sitting-room of a huge wave at Corbiere Lighthouse and earlier this morning I tripped over a pic of son and me painting at Jersey pottery. That one you have of St. Brelade makes me positively ‘homesick’ if you can be that for a place that you love, but which isn’t home. By the way, it’s not about the quality of the pics, for me, but the choices that a person makes from those they have taken. So please keep posting a few to satisfy my craving ’til I get back there!

Thank you for that lovely comment Jean. Corbiere was certainly wild this morning as three of us jogged by. Yes I’ll be popping one or two up from time to time that I hope will capture some of the flavour of this beautiful island.

Brilliant! So glad you got a camera! Looking forward very much to more pictures of Jersey, even though you do a wonderful job of creating word pictures of the place in your books.
You apartment is that close to the beach? Hmmmm, I`m dead jealous!

Thank you RH, you’re a great encouragement. Yes the coastal view is amazing and ever-changing with the tidal range in these parts. I’m very fortunate.

Thanks Britt. There are some magnificent Jersey pics going around at the moment but any I post will be real amateur shots.

I love the stone walls in the first two photos – my dream is to have a house with old stone walls surrounding it…..

Ah, someone after my own heart. Yes, great craftsmanship but I’m sorry to say that damage to old roadside walls is, more and more, being left unattended. Yet again it is usually money that talks, sigh.

Love the picture of the ship especially. I’m still pondering how you’ve survived without a camera. I think I use mine more than my cell phone!

Thanks Julie, a bit bumpy on the seas around here right now. As to the camera I’ll only be using it occasionally I think – I prefer looking at more accomplished work by other people, yourself included.

Very enjoyable, Roy. Keep snapping those pictures of that beautiful rock you live on! Best wishes for the New Year!

I blush at my poor efforts compared with the skills of others such as yourself Naomi. Still, I am proud of this tiny rock. I’ve just started reading your ‘Apples From Heaven’ – too good to rush all at once. Take care.

You live on a gem of an island, and I was lucky enough to have the best of tour guides to show me around! You do just fine with your camera, and you’ve only begun to scratch the surface. From one storyteller to another, thank you for the kind words. Best wishes for the coming year!
