Some great images of Dublin’s shopping streets by John Ivory.
After a longer than anticipated break over the winter, I finally got back out and about with the camera yesterday. Three or four times a year, I try to join up with the monthly Dublin street photography group, organised by fellow Bray man and legendary street photographer Des Byrne. The weather was very spring-like yesterday and it was extremely pleasant strolling the streets of Dublin in excellent company. As per usual, I didn’t manage to capture that one amazing, timeless street photo! However, here is a selection of my shots from yesterday, taken mainly around the Grafton Street, George’s Street Market and Temple Bar areas – a snapshot of the sights and scenes I encountered one particular sunny spring afternoon in Dublin. I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks Jill, those pics capture the essence of Dublin’s lively streets – though the sun doesn’t shine every day by any means!

My favourite picture is of the bearded redhead peering out of the cafe. Not everyone looked too happy at having their photos taken 😉

Hi Sarah. As I commented on John’s blog that guy is the spit of Luke Kelly, one of the legendary Dubliners who died in 1984. Spooky.

YES, I love these photos. Kind of voyeuristic in a good way. Dublin is on my bucket list.

Yes they sum up the vibrancy of the city beautifully Pam. Nobody or nothing is too odd for Dublin. If you make it to Ireland remember that the rest of the country is gorgeous in a far different way.

These pictures made me feel like I was there. I can never capture the personality of a place like this. Wish I could!

Hi Letizia – yes I’d never be able to produce these lively images no matter how long I practised. Dublin’s shopping streets are full of life. Unfortunately they also attract the city’s low life who are never far away and ready to make a nuisance of themselves.
