It’s been a while since I did one of these Smilebox things. There’s nothing quite like heading out into Jersey’s lanes on a summer morning, but before it gets too warm.
Here I manage a gentle 11 miles or so, stopping frequently for a photo op, or a chat with friends. St Ouen is a country parish in the north-west of Jersey. There’s an old joke that you need a passport to cross the parish border. Certainly St Ouen marches to the beat of a slower drum.
So join me for a few minutes on a virtual run.

Thank you for taking the time to put this together for us, Roy. You’re so fortunate to live in such a beautiful area. Your music choice was perfect…I think my blood pressure dropped a few points viewing this lovely video. I’ll patiently be waiting for the next one. ๐

Hi Jill – I thought of you especially when putting this one together, you’re always so appreciative. I guess I need to do one or two more then. I certainly have enough material.

What a great way of sharing your special part of the world. Thanks, Roy. Can you run decent distances on the dirt paths without going on paved roads??

Hello Jane, and thank you. Yes there were a few miles of trail in there and there are plenty more. A bit rocky and uneven in places though and I’ve tripped a number of times. The lanes are generally quiet though.

Thank you Juliann, it was fun on a warm morning. At the very least people ought to have been outdoor, even if not running.

That farm looks charming, Roy . . . is it a private farm?

Hi Kristine. Yes, though it may not be a working farm. It’s not untypical in Jersey, a big old family property that once employed locals to work the farm. Quite often these days the farm buildings are converted into apartments though retaining the original characteristics.
