Occasionally one finds an old blog and thinks it’s worth re-blogging. Here’s one I like from a few years back.
The lovely river Lee runs prettily through Cork city into the Irish Sea. Inland it is fed by tributaries, one of which is the Sullane which runs through Macroom and Ballyvourney. Roy I am glad you reblogged I have not read this post, looks like a beautiful place and yet I would have tried to steer clear of the crowd, you describe it so well I wanted to avoid it too. Soaking up the pubs and music, i remember my quick trip to Dublin well, if you found a quiet pub you were lucky but the music and atmosphere were usually so good…alas I was younger then and also recall the tasty fast food, especially the sauce with chips…..

Hi Kath – yes the Mills Inn was beautiful and quiet when I checked in around midday but it had been transformed into a mad canteen by early evening. To be fair, if I still had young kids I’d probably be there too, keeping them happy for a while. These days I just want a quiet corner and a good pint.

I have young kids Roy, but my hubs and I still prefer a quiet corner. What parent doesn’t?

Thanks for sharing this Roy, a place I’ve never heard of but obviously a treasure. Being me, I was particularly struck with the legends around the saint and the holy wells ๐
