A gorgeous Spring morning here in Jersey, Channel Islands. I met the girls for a run but let them head off whilst I returned by a circuitous route taking out the camera whenever I fancied a rest. Which was often.
- Jersey Joggers – bring on the sand dunes
- St Ouen’s Bay from Corbiere
- Housing for engine pump, La Moye quarry
- La Moye quarry (disused)
- Iron wheels – the railway ceased to run in 1936!
- Bellemont
- Road sign, La Moye
- La Moye Prison
- Les Lumieres, Route Orange
- Site of Newman’s Cash Stores where Tess bought an apple hoping Robin would wait outside for her. It’s changed!
- General Don built most of Jersey main roads. This is the surviving entrance to his home at Don Farm.
Thanks for sharing your lovely photos, Roy! It does look like an absolutely perfect day. Enjoy!

Like you Jean I never stop appreciating my surroundings. Jersey has such a variety of locations, many of which you can see in a single run.

There is a real variety of locations! I particularly love the quarry and the old railway.

Hi Andrea. Amazing variety of things to see in a small island. The railway extension was originally up to the quarry but that finished long ago. Meanwhile they re-routed the line out to Corbiere and it was very popular in its day.

Les Lumiere building looks great-a 1930s build, I think? I love that running takes us up close and personal with our surroundings. And its always interesting to see other runners’ routes too. Thanks for the pics.

Spot on I think RH, a lovely art deco building that one normally whizzes by in a car. Jogging solo allows the inner geek to emerge and appreciate many little things that people normally miss. And of course it’s an excuse for a breather 🙂

Art Deco… Dammit… I couldn’t think what the correct term was for that style. It’s very appealing though.

Hiya Billie. Yes it’s sharp and a bit ‘in your face isn’t it? It’s good to re-evaluate and shake up many things in one’s life that have become a bit tired and formulaic. Keeps them fresh and (hopefully) interesting.

Hiya Britt. Yes it was perfect – not too warm for a little run but so pleasant after a bit of a miserable winter.

Hhhmm. I never thought taking a camera in combination with running. Maybe I could be a runner… The dog keeps trying to turn me into one. But I think I’m better off just walking. With camera.

If I was training seriously Julie I wouldn’t but running gives a great opportunity to take in the small but interesting things that you’d never see otherwise.

This is a really nice theme, Roy (I can see from the bottom of the page it’s called Sorbet). Very clear and crisp! 🙂
I love these photos. What a beautiful place Jersey is. One day I may just take that leap and visit 😀

Ha, I think you’d find Jersey a bit claustrophobic after Oz Dianne 🙂 But we have a huge variety packed into our 9 x 5 miles.

You’d get fed up waiting for me these days Letizia 🙂 The yellow is just gorse or furze which grows in profusion on our cliffs and commons.

Hello Naomi! Yes Jersey doesn’t have major sites or majestic panoramas. But around every corner, every step you take there is something of interest, if one cares to look. Maybe you’ll pass this way again some day.

I hope so, Roy! I’ll buy you a pint, and then I’ll go back and visit some of the best thrift shops in the world!
