First prize includes $100, a live reading at The A21 Campaign – U.S. East Coast office’s Be Their Freedom annual benefit to be held on Sept. 19th in Charleston, SC. Very interesting contest. I haven’t written poetry in a while, but will see whether this sparks any lines from me. It’s an important topic; I’m just not sure what I have to say about it yet.

Thanks Juliann. I’m hopeless at poetry but I’m speechless at how our modern and enlightened world allow there to be 27 million + slaves in our midst – in every American state, in Britain and Ireland, under our noses. If we do nothing else we can raise awareness. Thanks for your comment, appreciated.
