A sad image from my favourite spot in my favourite city. Those businesses just hanging on in the recession are pretty much wiped out now. O’Driscoll’s pub is in the foreground left. Half way down the street, just past the green building, is KC’s takeaway, the best in the city by common acclaim. It was anyway 😦
*Edit July 2022. In spite of my doom mongering ten years ago I’m happy to record that O’Driscoll’s, KC’s and the other businesses along there are still chugging along very nicely.

Omg Roy – thanks for posting this. My sis in law owns a salon down the road here and they live up in maryborough hill. My Dave part of cork too. Thanks for the book Barry. Have started it and enjoying it so far. Reminds me of the snapper a bit in a roddy doyle easygoing way of writing. Thanks. Clo.
